We are all different shapes and sizes and that means quite often an outfit or dress will need some sort of adjustment to make it the perfect fit.

It’s ok we are here to help. We’d love to be standing next to you right now offering the same great advice you’d get in our boutique but instead we thought we'd send you this.
Designer occasion-wear is not like high-street clothes in the way it’s sized. There is no standard size chart as it comes from all over the world so it’s likely that the outfit you have chosen will need altering in some way to fit your individual body shape perfectly.
As women we are really not used to getting clothes altered that we buy on the high street. Because of what we sell we sell it’s our experience that about 80% of customers who visit us in the boutique need some adjusting by a seamstress.
It’s those simple tweaks like lifting the straps or shortening the length that can make a big difference to the fit and how you feel about a dress or outfit. Remember it’s always better to have an outfit taken in rather than try to let a tighter outfit out.
So you love the outfit but it doesn’t quite fit. If you were in the boutique, we'd arrange for a seamstress to take a look and tell you what they can do to make it a perfect fit.
As you're at home we suggest either contacting a local bridal boutique or searching Google for details of your nearest seamstress. Most bridal shops will have seamstresses who will also do freelance work for other customers – They should be happy to pass on a telephone number or email address.
There are also nationwide alteration businesses such as The Zip Yard which have outlets across the country – visit www.thezipyard.co.uk to find the nearest to you.
Stitches is a northern-based alteration service with outlets in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Liverpool www.stitchesuk.co.uk
This will depend entirely on the amount of work that needs doing. Most seamstresses will be happy to see you with no obligation and offer a quote for the work. Always be sure to get a quote before the work starts.
We hope this alteration advice helps and if we can offer any more advice, please don’t hesitate to call us on 01202 765352 and ask for Tracie.
