Wrap dresses are one of my great style loves. If you haven’t discovered them yet, you are in for a treat! Wrap dresses by designers such as Frank Lyman and Michaela Louisa offer the ultimate in easy wear and easy care. And it’s also good news on the style update. Some of my customers who shy away from this style now love it because of the new crossover shaping. If, like them, the crossover neckline concerns you that you may flash to much flesh – don’t worry. Clever modesty panels inset between the crossover solve this problem. Let’s also not forget that most wrap dresses have long sleeves too so provide sophisticated cover up with no need for a cardigan.
This season, the wrap style finds it way into cocktail and evening dresses too. So, you can now easily take this flattering style through to your black-tie events. I love this idea as I hate feeling too exposed during winter.
Why wrap dresses?
A crossover neckline which is a main feature of wrap dresses is so flattering to most bust sizes. This look is especially good if you are busty. The crossover takes the focus away from the bust and elongates your neckline.
A new addition to the wrap dress is an inset panel to make the crossover less revealing. Another way to avoid cleavage overload is to wear a camisole under the dress. A bright camisole under a plain wrap dress can really lift your look. Change the colour of the camisole and you have a different dress each time!
Another wonderful wrap dress feature is the ruching. Take a look and you will see the gentle gathering of fabric to one side at the waistline or right across the middle. The great thing about this feature is it makes the dress figure-hugging but without clinging too much to your tummy. For me, that is great news. Anything that means I don’t have to do sit ups!
The other fab factor is that most wrap dresses in our 2017 collection can be machine or hand washed. Even better, many don’t need ironing. These dresses really are the ultimate in easy care and easy wear.
And it doesn’t matter if you are a flat shoe fan or a high-heeled fashionista, wrap dresses work with most footwear. Why not wear them with thick tights and ankle boots for a more casual daytime look? Swap your heels to high and you are ready to go out to dinner straight from work.
It’s a wrap!
