Navy is definitely making a come back for the autumn season. Here at Fab Frocks, we are busy rearranging the shop as our autumn 2017 deliveries arrive. Always an exciting time! And navy is already proving key to this season’s wardrobe. As a colour, it is associated with smartness and authority. When you start to think about uniforms, you can see why this colour has such an association.
So why does it work so well in occasionwear?
Evening wear – grab a little navy number
The LBN – little black number may have to make way for the LNN this season. There are so many amazing cocktail and evening dresses available in navy. I know everyone thinks black makes you look slimmer but not always. Put a black dress on me and I look tired and heavy round the eyes, so much so that people ask me if I am unwell when I wear black! Navy is also slimming as a colour. What’s more, it is kinder to many of our skin tones. So why not consider a LNN for the party season? Check out our City Goddess range of party dresses with prices from just £52. Michaela Louisa is also worth a look at with gorgeous cocktail dresses with trendy, cold-shoulder sleeves at £110.
Navy for weddings – the smartest choice
All of our winter season mother of the bride and groom outfits have now arrived. Again, navy features as a predominant colour. It is ideal for an autumn or winter wedding as it is a strong colour without being overpowering. It also complements an ivory wedding dress really well. Remember too, if you don’t fancy head-to-toe navy, the great thing about this colour is it goes with so much. Why not put pink or red heels with it for a stylish pop of colour. Silver accessories like hats and bags also look very sophisticated with navy.
Day dresses – how navy can work for you
Because of its association with authority, this is a great colour choice for your working wardrobe. It oozes smartness and confidence. Coming soon will be more of our amazing Diva day dress range. This UK designed and manufactured label offers body-con dresses in a range of great colours including navy. These smart dresses with sleeves are the choice of many BBC TV presenters. I think weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has one in nearly every colour they do! Not only are they smart, they are comfortable and so easy to wear. Add to that the fact they don’t need ironing and they are the perfect working woman’s choice for business and networking.
