Leading face and skincare expert Faye Jones, clinic manager at Sk:n in Bournemouth is helping women, especially brides and mothers of the bride and groom to get great skin in preparation for the big day. As guest blogger for Fab Frocks, here she shares her secret to glowing skin for that important day.

The 5 product treatment principles are designed to cover the main pillars of great skincare and bespoke treatment.

I would recommend all brides and mothers of the bride and groom to ensure they apply the 5 principles at least three to six months prior to the big day.

Faye’s top face and skincare tips

Just as you would shower every day, prepare your skin with a cleanser daily. This will ensure you remove all your make up and impurities from the skin. It is really important you are using the correct cleanser for your skin type. Make sure you use a foam or cream cleanser. Make up wipes will not cut through the grime.

Performance is all about hydrating and feeding the skin by using a daily moisturiser. I always recommend a water-based lotion or gel for an oily skin so it will not clog the pores and a nice rich thick cream for a dry skin. If you have a normal skin then something in between is great.  For that bridal glow, always opt for a Vitamin C and E based cream/lotion that contains antioxidants.

Of course, at night your skin needs a different kind of care.  So, opt for a Vitamin A cream such as Skin ceuticals retinol 0.3% or Dermaquest Retinoldehyde  renewal cream. The reason for using this is that it will increase your cell turnover and lift those marks and lines away from the face giving you that youthful look.

Next in the steps is Prescribe. Prescribe your skin and treat it to some skin peels or facials running up to the day. For anyone that has more problematic skin you would want a course of 6 treatments every 2 weeks prior to the big day. Normal skin would benefit from 3- 6 treatments. I personally love hydrafacial. It rehydrates and awakens the skin leaving it clean, fresh, soft and plump. There is no downtime and it delivers results whether it is to treat an aged skin right down to a younger skin or acne sufferers.

Face it – protect and perfect

Protect the skin after your daily moisturiser by using an spf 50 with a UVA and UVB spectrum. There are a wide range of spf’s that offer great coverage and some even have a tint to them. If you can only afford one cream it should be sun cream!

Perfect your regime with using a good serum and eye cream. Don’t forget, you must always apply a serum after cleaning followed by eye cream, moisturiser then your spf and makeup. Hyaluronic acid, Vitamin B5/B3 based serum will really plump the skin and smooth away fine lines and wrinkles. Ideally, use twice a day for optimum results. I recommend skin cueticals hydrating b5.  Be careful! Eye creams carry a different molecule in them to a regular face cream so do not use your face cream near the eye area otherwise it will be weighted down on the thinner skin that surrounds the orbital eye area giving you bags or a tired look. Try sk:n clinic’s brightening and firming eye cream to really lift the area. It contains light reflective particles in it that make the eyes shine and reflect back the light!
