The Dorset Wedding Awards are like the Oscars of the wedding industry. This annual event recognises wedding businesses across the county involved in anything to do with Dorset weddings. There’s an award for best stationery through to best bridal. And this year, I am so proud to announce that Fab Frocks won Best Wedding Attire award for the fourth time. It is such a proud moment when you hear the name of your business read out.  The rest is a blurr – you accept the award under the flashing lights with the room going crazy. Add to that –  me complete with a wardrobe malfunction of getting my dress train caught in my heels. Note to self to practice walking in an evening dress before such an event!

As well as winning, the other thing I love about this awards ceremony is that it always chooses a charity to benefit from the event. This year it is the amazing Wedding Wishing Well Foundation. This charity was new to me and wow – what amazing work founder Naomi Thomas is doing. A wedding planner, Naomi was diagnosed with breast cancer. She now works tirelessly to help organise weddings for other couples facing terminal illness.  Read her story online at her website and as it says, grab yourself a cup of tea, a biscuit and a tissue and listen to her story.”

Dorset Wedding Awards – recognising the best

The thing that is so great about these awards is that our category for Best Wedding Attire is judged blind. Wedding industry experts from around the UK come together to objectively review the application I have submitted. They have no idea it is Fab Frocks because I cannot refer to the name of the business in my entry or in any supporting evidence. Every year the competition gets tougher. We know that we cannot stand still so are always innovating. For instance, 2017 saw us introduce even more new occasionwear collections to offer mothers of the bride and groom. We also work hard to constantly review our customer service and this year have introduced a new and exciting customer loyalty scheme.

In this free scheme, customers are given reward points for every pound they spend with us. These reward points can then be used as money-off vouchers in our boutique. We only launched it in October and we’ve had lots of customers sign up who are already enjoying spending their rewards with us. It’s our way of saying thank you. Just as the Dorset Wedding Industry Awards is the wedding industry’s way of saying thank you to all the wonderful people who work so hard to make wedding days a day to truly remember.
