Wedding outfit John Charles 26357B
This wedding outfit by John Charles is perfect for winter weddings with its soft berry tones

The sun may be shining but mothers of the bride and groom are already visiting us to look for a wedding outfit for a winter wedding. Though we all love to postpone the thought of winter for as long as possible, now is the time to start looking for your winter wedding outfit.

The autumn/winter 2017 collections of mother of the bride and mother of the groom outfits are starting to arrive with us now. We tend to have all the collections here by mid August at the very latest.

Finding your winter wedding outfit

If the wedding is in a church, a fabulous pashmina or posh coat can keep the chill at bay for the ceremony. We are teaming up outfits with gorgeous faux fur wraps. These come in a choice of colours. They add glamour to the look and keep you warm at the same time.

If the setting is going to be chilly, a frock coat and dress will keep you warmer than a dress and short jacket.

If the wedding is not in a church, the issue of staying warm is less important. Aren’t we all happy to freeze for the sake of fashion for a few minutes for the photos? For a hotel or country house venue, a wedding outfit does not necessarily have to be a heavy weight fabric so you will have even more choice.

Colours for winter

Just because the wedding is in winter doesn’t mean you have to opt for a dark colour either.  Bright, rich colours can look stunning especially against a cold, winter sky. Think cobalt blue or red for a fabulous pop of colour.

Silver grey and rich berry colours are another great choice for a wedding outfit. They hint of autumn and wintry tones which can fit in well with the surrounding landscape. Navy also works really well. It’s smart and will never date. Take a look at designer John Charles . This collection has a stunning range of wedding outfits in these kind of colours for autumn and winter.

I am noticing too that many winter weddings are becoming black-tie affairs. This opens up so much choice for your wedding outfit. Go for a beautiful cocktail dress or evening dress with sleeves and sparkle. Take a look at designers such as Gina Bacconi, Dynasty and Michaela Louisa  for perfect black-tie dress code ideas.
