It’s this time of year we reach for our trusted LBDs as invites to parties, awards dinners and the C word starts to approach. I have to be honest – I’ve never been a fan of black.
I must be the only boutique owner in the land not to have a little black dress of her own. Coco Chanel would turn in her grave. Black just doesn’t suit me, makes me look tired and drained. I’m not even sure it’s as slimming as the fashion myth would have us believe.
Of course it looks fab on movie stars like Audrey Hepburn but then what didn’t.
So this season I’m really excited to see the renaissance of navy. Our navy evening dresses and cocktail dresses are grabbing attention and women are liking the welcome change from black. Navy looks stunning set off with rose gold or silver accessories and it’s a colour you can wear winter or summer if you accessorise right. A navy dress with white aka nautical or a pop of pink is perfect for summer occasions.
Navy apparently symbolises trust, loyalty, wisdom,confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. That’s more than enough reasons to wear it to get me through the autumn and winter.
