Arming up with sleeves and a baked bean can

Monday, September 26th, 2016
This clever cocktail dress with sleeves flatters your arms and hides a middle age spread! There is a fashion God!

It’s my birthday today! I think sadly I’m now on tricky ground to carry on calling myself mid-40s. I’m starting to notice all those thing that “come with age”  – wearing glasses, middle age spread etc. Whenever I visit my doctor now , his cheerful diagnosis is always that “it’s to do with your age.”

This sexy lace dress with sleeves is proving a real hit with our younger customers. Style DR566A.

With ageing, there’s some things we can’t control, but how we dress is certainly one thing we can and as we get older, I think it’s even more important to get it right.

I’m now much more in tune with my 40 plus customers and like them, I’m  celebrating the fact that at long last dress designers are listening to what women want and producing beautiful, on-trend dresses with sleeves for every occasion that don’t make you look like your grandma. Even our younger customers are coming in and asking for evening dresses with sleeves, influenced by what is on the catwalk plus skinny arms can be as much of a problem as flabby ones!

I knew it was time for me to opt for sleeves when I waved to someone and my arms still kept moving of their own accord long afterwards! The joys of bingo wings comes to us all despite my best efforts with the baked bean can exercise. (If you don’t know it – you do push ups with your arms, taking them up behind your back whilst holding a tin can as if it’s a dumbell. It does help a bit!)

So let’s just hope I’ll be unwrapping some birthday presents that include dresses with sleeves and some baked beans!
